Great weather overall —thanks to forecasted showers which held off until late in the final day—despite a pesky crosswind and temperatures which fueled sales of cold beverages, and drove at least one ground crew member to cool off in the prop wash.
Great sights—21 full size and near full size WWI warbirds on the flight line and in the air alternating with a swarm of R-C aircraft buzzing like wasps about their nest, a truly outstanding array of static displays, a splendid gathering of grand old motor cars from bygone days chugging up and down the flight line, and the authentically costumed and equipped reenactors reminding us that life "at the front" was no bowl of roses.
Great fellowship—old friends who keep in touch between fly-ins via the Internet greeting each other like long lost relatives, sharing war stories and the work of unloading and reassembing their planes. And with the dedicated Museum staffers who worked long hours in preparation for the weekend event, and couldn't have done more keeping things running smoothly once the crowds arrived.
Great memories—the balloon busting and flour bomb competition, the huge crowd having fun at the banquet, the early morning pilots' briefings with "Safety Steve," the Museum staffers' crash (pun intended) course in control line combat flying, and . . . (you supply your own).
